The Scroll Stoppers #7
Hey—it’s Yash.
While standing in the middle of an exotic car rally, my mind realised how out of the ordinary it was to see those bright, colourful and powerful cars among the everyday black and white sedans and SUVs that usually occupy our streets.
A lesson in content creation coming your way in 3…2…1
Normalcy is bad
Car rallies are fun. More on this later.
But first, tell me you agree that—
A lot of content creation is about repetition.
You’ll see literally EVERY guru preaching it. Day and night.
You scroll for 10 seconds and you’ll probably see someone posting a milestone about how not giving up for 101 days made it all possible.
All of that is OK.
You NEED to show up day after day after day to win the content game.
You NEED to create insightful, knowledgeable and entertaining content to win this game.
You NEED a good roster of ideas to create content every single day.
And when you start doing that for a few days and weeks, it quickly becomes a habit.
You fall into a routine.
And I say—it’s a GOOD thing. Sure.
Putting in the reps matters. A ton.
You built a schedule for yourself? Good.
You built a writing ritual for yourself? ALSO good.
But did you also make your content boring along the way?
The fallacy of insightful content
Most of the advice you see is to create content that encompasses three things:
knowledge
opinions
experience
And this advice is absolutely CORRECT.
So when does this cycle of insightful content become too much? When does it become boring and monotonous and just…bland?
When it’s the ONLY thing you do.
Come on—do this experiment with me.
Go to your favourite creator’s profile and scroll down. Look at their first 10 posts.
What do you see?
Probably:
2-4 long forms
1-2 short forms
1-3 personality posts
probably 1-2 things on something funny
Do you see the variety?
Now consider this—if long forms bring followers and clients to your door, why not post just long forms every single day?
Makes sense right?
But no, the bigger creators aren’t doing that.
They tell you to write long forms every day but aren’t doing that themselves.
Now why is that?
Remember the car rally that I was telling you about?
This exotic car show attracted HUNDREDS of people on the street.
Everyone wanted to take a look at cars that don’t conform to the norm.
Out of the 100, 20 wanted to test drive some of them.
Out of the 20, maybe 5 will end up buying some of them in the future.
Do you understand?
Normalcy isn’t what you need when a potential lead / fan / follower is scrolling through your content.
You MUST make your profile seem human. And that means:
posts about your everyday life
posts about your past and your goals
post on your polarizing opinions
You need things that make people want to scroll and remember you.
You don’t want to be that creator who posts a long form every day like a robot, hoping that it’s all everybody wants to read.
No.
Just give yourself room to experiment.
Don’t make your content seem like you rehearse it beforehand.
Make it genuine and sometimes, off the top of your head works best.
Know what I mean?
Anyway, ciao.
Talk to you soon.
